Snake Eyes

Everybody Knows

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died

Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows

Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

And everybody knows that it's now or never
Everybody knows that it's me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you've done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton
For your ribbons and bows
And everybody knows

And everybody knows that the Plague is coming
Everybody knows that it's moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past

Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
What everybody knows

And everybody knows that you're in trouble
Everybody knows what you've been through
From the bloody cross on top of Calvary
To the beach of Malibu

Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this Sacred Heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Everybody knows

  1. the sadness i feel after watching the debate last night tells me how unreasonable my prior high hopes were

may the creative forces of the universe have mercy on my soul, if any

  2. Cheer up, bud. Not only were we doomed from the moment of inception, but we had to watch *Situation Comedies* in the late 50s and into the 60s, Pat Nixon's funeral, and The Jackson Sister exposing a beast on national teevee. Not to mention Jane Curtin being called an igonrant slut.

Life. Can't live with it, can't live without it.

    1. speaking of janet jackson, she has a new number one album, a triumph not only for her, but for her record company - you can find good news if you look for it

BMG scores big hit with Janet Jackson album

      Matthew Garrahan in New York

Janet Jackson takes the stage to accept the Ultimate Icon Award during the 2015 BET Awards in Los Angeles in June

Janet Jackson completed a remarkable career comeback this week when, after seven years out of the spotlight, she landed her seventh number one album in the US.

Unbreakable is the star’s first studio album since 2008. But if topping the charts was a reason to celebrate for the singer after such a lengthy break it was doubly meaningful for BMG, the Bertelsmann-owned music group that released the record.

“It’s our first number one in the US,” says Hartwig Masuch, chief executive. A US number one hit is “the definition of having the ability to play with the big boys”.

  3. thinking back on the debate, i think hillary's claim that "capitalism" is "small business" is perhaps her most damnable lie - there are some possible mental contortions under which she might really have believed or half-believed her far-fetched claim that it is accurate to label her "a progressive - but a progressive who wants to get results"

just as multiculturalism is not cooking couscous, but rather stoning adulteresses to death, in the apt observation by some twentieth-century french person

so capitalism is not small business, but rather rule by banksters -

as bernie accurately said, congress doesn't regulate wall street - wall street regulates congress

    who can deny it?

as anne frank said, and as father thomas keating reminds us, people are basically good

mike tyson said of one of his opponents - deep down, he has a good heart - deep, deep, deep down
