Tuesday

A Teabagger, The Future Of America (Photo: CNN)

According to CNN, "National polls indicate that many voters are in a foul mood. The big question is whether that mood will continue into 2010, when the entire House of Representatives, [and] more than a third of the Senate ... [is] up for grabs."

Then, they quote an impartial observer of the political scene, who can tell CNN's viewership what this foul, ugly mood is all about -- John Bohnert, Republican Minority Leader of the House.

"We're in the middle, I think, of a political rebellion going on in America... by people who really have not been actively involved in the political process and they don't really care if you're a Democrat or a Republican. They want to see people who are going to stand up and protect the future for our kids and grandkids.

So, according to Bohnert, it isn't a minority of rightist activists and mildly crazy eccentric tightly-wrapped people whose public antics make great theater for a Right-leaning press (I mean, come on: Glen The Cryer Beck's Teabagger march in Washington, D.C., only drew less than 10,000 people).

No; according to the Right, the mood of America is a true populist groundswell -- of Fundamentalist christians and gun owners, who demand to take back their country from the Socialist Communist predations of a Black Man who faked his birth certificate in order to become President.

They don't know what they want, but they know what they don't like: Immigrants, Minorities who don't 'know their place'; uppity women; gays; liberals; any science not based in Creationism; any media that disagrees with their point of view. They want their interpretation of a Supreme Being in our schools, bedrooms, boardrooms, and broadcast 24 X 7 in the media. Like the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan, they want to party like it's 999.

Basically, the Republicans have no alternative plan to the issues our country is facing -- and, "cutting taxes and curbing spending" isn't a plan; it's asinine, and a worthless slogan. They'll end up destroying what's left of this country -- in part, because the President and the Democrats can't appear to do what has to be done.
